About North Star Fabricaton
Our History and our leadership
OUR PHILOSPHY
At North Star, we take being precise very seriously. And, precision manifests in ways that most people might not consider. Obviously, precision in the manufactured product is paramount – we can hold tolerances! But consider precision in relationships – anticipating best outcomes, treating our customers like family, creating partnerships from strength to advance mutual success.
Precision is our philosophy, beyond just our practice.
OUR LEADERSHIP

While overseeing our substantial large format projects, Mr. Denny actively shares his profound knowledge with our skilled production team. If you ever find yourself pondering the realm of possibilities in fabrication, he is your invaluable resource.
James Denny
Shop Foreman
James joined North Star as a welder right out of Highschool in 2005. In that time he has worked and trained under the instruction of his Father & North Star owner Jim Denny. On the floor he has welded and fabricated with our sister company, Great Northern Trailers, doing production work building parts and trailers, building bunker blast doors for one of our long time customers, honed his fabrication skills building various pieces of asphalt equipment, and rounding out his skills attending to the majority of the custom projects and repair work that comes in the door. He is skilled in operating nearly every piece of equipment in our shop, while also having a good working relationship with all of our operators to ensure projects are quoted accurately, and executed professionally.
OUR HISTORY
Crafting Precision Since the Lumber Boom
North Star Fabrication and Machine traces its roots back to the thriving days of the Douglas County lumber boom in the early 1980s when Jim Denny joined forces with Norm Stone. In those formative years, the company catered to a variety of customers and saw consistent growth, necessitating several relocations before settling on Calapooia Street in Sutherlin, Oregon. Projects ranged from asphalt production components to control van systems for on-site operations management, various logging equipment, and large-format wastewater treatment components.
Officially established in the mid-1990s, North Star Fabrication and Machine witnessed significant expansion in the design and production of material handling machinery. It left an indelible mark in the specialized production equipment sector across several industries. However, like many, the company faced economic challenges in the mid-2000s.
Throughout its journey, North Star has remained unwavering in its commitment to a core value: precision. Whether in production, manufacturing, or customer service, precision has been the guiding principle driving North Star’s continued success.
